The ACGC Falcons are amazing! One of the many reasons I love teaching here is our school's ability to band together and make things happen. So many people have voted on the Prep 45 Facebook page in an effort to win the $10,000.00 award from the Toyota Drive for Education project and I am proud to lead such a dedicated effort.
If you haven't yet voted, please "Like" the Prep 45 Facebook page and Vote for ACGC!!

I applied for the Toyota Drive for Education funding and learned that my classroom has been selected as one of the 14 winners in the state for the $2500.00 award! Wow!!! In the essay to receive this $2500.00 funding, I wrote about the need my photography class has for more/better quality film cameras so that I have more of a class set available rather than having to have everyone share the 5 or 6 good ones we do have.
What happens next is the PREP 45 Facebook page will post all the winning essays and the essay that gets the most votes allows that person's classroom to get upgraded to a $10,000.00 award. They are going to present the award to me on March 7 ....LIVE on TV... at the XCEL Center during the Minnesota Boys State Hockey Tournament. It would mean the world to me if you would go to "Like" their Facebook page and place your vote for the ACGC high school art department. When you go to "Like" their page, click on the "Contests: Toyota Drive for Education" button (it's on the right kind of under their cover photo) and then click "Vote". This is such a cool opportunity for ACGC and I am so excited to be able to have a chance to get this new equipment for my student artists. Thank you all, VERY MUCH!!! The "Zoomed In" assignment required Photography art students to work on capturing an image at an extreme close up with clarity.
It's an important skill to be able to control the pressure of your pencil when you are drawing. An artist wants to do the initial drawing of their projects very lightly in order to be able to erase without "ghost lines" left behind. To help my 5th and 6th grade students remember this concept I taped feathers to the tops of their pencils!
Welcome to the ACGC Art Department Blog! It is my goal to post pictures of art projects and updates that detail the artistic adventures we take in the Art Room here at ACGC. Please stay tuned and check back often!
