Coil Pots
Coil pots are a very basic form of creating pottery. I like to teach lessons such as this one because this is an art project that isn't merely just decorative - it is functional as well. They will be displayed and used for years to come in homes and will always be treasured! This isn't the student's first experience making coiled pots nor will it be their last. We do a similar lesson in 6th grade and again in the high school sculpture classes. It is extremely rewarding to take something home that will be displayed and used. It is also fun to see how technique and skill level can improve over the years.
