Elements and Principles
Before students actually being taking photos they learn how to look at them and understand what is needed to make them more interesting and dynamic. The basic components which make up the criteria for how we look at anything artistic are called the Elements and Principles of art. These are simple and are often taken for granted in a way because we automatically visually search for these things without even realizing it. For this assignment, students are challenged to look through magazines and find professional photographer’s work that will represent each one of the required Elements and Principles. They then cut it out and paste it to a page along with the definition defending the way the photo relates to that particular component.
