1 Point Perspective Surprise Boxes
Before we begin learning about 2 point perspective, 8th graders start with learning the basics of 1 point perspective. Repetition in practice is the best way to get the hang of the formulaic approach to working in perspective and 8th graders do just that as they must include at least 10 boxes drawn in perspective for this assignment. Of course if we just drew a bunch of boxes and left it at that it would be rather uneventful…we add some drama by adding a surprise snaking through all the boxes! The trunk of an elephant, the neck of a giraffe, a crazy out of control flower, a school bus filled with smiling kids….the possibilities are endless!
There is a "Law"of 1 point perspective which must be obeyed to complete this accurately:
Law: All lines are either vertical, horizontal, or lead directly to the vanishing point. Nothing else.
Simple!
